This page contains three charts for you to download. Each is a Microsoft Excel file and consists of a single sheet of A4 landscape format. They will print on any printer and look like the images on this page.
1. Information Technology Capability
This chart describes the entirety of the National Curriculum for ICT in a simple structure. If you look along the rows horizontally you will see what each 'strand' of ICT Capability contains. If you look down the column most appropriate for your class you will see what your children should be doing this year.

2. The QCA Scheme of Work
The QCA have published a scheme of work for ICT which contains many units of work. It is difficult initially to get an overview of its contents. This chart will help you. It contains a very brief summary of each unit, including the main content, what is involved and what the main task is.

3. Mapping the QCA scheme of work to the strands
Although there is a move away from dividing the ICT curriculum into 'strands', they still represent a very simple way to understand its scope and breadth. This chart identifies where the QCA units of work fit when you view ICT in thsi way. Notice how a topic, once introduced is expected to be used thereafter (e.g. the individual child's use of email appears only in year 3 but it will obviously be regularly used thereafter).
